While seemingly an unusual approach, drumming offers a myriad of possibilities for improvement within a business organization. Music is a universal language and the drum is the most accessible instrument for non-musicians. We have worked with businesses of all types, from small companies to major corporations like Hewlett-Packard and Coca Cola.

We find that people like to be engaged. Drumming is expressive, a unique way of sharing a sense of community. After making music together, participants may find it easier to come together to resolve a challenge or conflict, or to work through a problem. TEAM BUILDING
Everyone can do it. At the same time, participants generally find themselves outside their comfort zone. But this is not a bad place to be…and the rhythm quickly brings the group together with music’s unique bond.The participants learn a new skill which stimulates creative processes. The team works together layering rhythms – the process centers on cooperation and collaboration. There is no competition.

Drumming together develops listening skills while giving everyone a voice. Common ground is found both through successes and failures. The disconnect between different departments or management levels disappears quickly.This is no long drawn-out process – the typical session lasts an hour or two. It’s a physical activity that begins quickly and and show immediate results. We can virtually guarantee that the participants will enjoy and long remember the session, and the bonds will be long-lasting.

Ice Breakers

Group drumming can be an ideal start to a conference and meeting. The interactive participatory nature can eliminate tension and nervousness. Drumming as a group can get your meeting started with enthusiasm and involvement. And it’s guaranteed to make sure every one is awake and involved!

Performances

DrumRise offers opening or intermssion performances of high-energy West-African music. These are done with small ensemble groups of 2-5 players, or with the all-women’s group ConunDrums, featuring drums and other instruments, dancing, singing and storytelling.
