DrumRise goes to Guinea

Drumrise's Amy and Colleen with the Keita familyAmy and Colleen are off to Africa!  We’re going to study further with our teacher, Grandmaster Djembefola, Mamady Keita (pictured right along with his wife, Monette Marino-Keita and daughter Nasira).  We’re looking forward to bringing back a wealth of new music and experiences to share with our students in Atlanta in late January!

 

Grandmasters Tour Wrap-Up

Mamady and Famoudou are presented with the key to the city of ClarkstonFamoudou Konaté and Mamady Keita have come and gone from Atlanta. But we suspect they’ll be back. 81 drummers from Atlanta, the southeast, and beyond participated in the wonderful workshops with these living legends and a great time was had by all!

Thanks Druid Hills Presbyterian

We had a great time drumming with the folks at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church last Saturday. A mix of kids and adults, drumming students, church members and local community members and fun was had by all. Hope to be back soon. (Hopefully a cool, sunny day in the fall!)
